Bruno Fernandes sets new assist record in EPL

Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes has written his name into Premier League history after setting a new record for the highest number of assists in a single season

The Portuguese star achieved the milestone during United’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Brighton on the final day of the league campaign.

Fernandes provided the breakthrough with a well-delivered corner that was headed home by Patrick Dorgu, taking his assist tally for the season to 21.

The achievement moves him ahead of Arsenal icon Thierry Henry and Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne, who previously shared the record with 20 assists each.

The midfielder had matched their tally a week earlier after setting up Bryan Mbeumo in United’s 3-1 win over Nottingham Forest.

Fernandes’ remarkable season has also earned him major individual honours, including the Premier League Player of the Season award and the FWA Footballer of the Year prize.
