Olamide’s Song “Spirit”, A Classical Hit Or Just An Ordinary Song?

Few days ago, Olamide dropped his second official single Of the year 2019 titled “Spirit”.

From the Pre-release hype to the title of the song, one would have thought Olamide is ready to drop his first hit song of 2019.

Before you can totally relate to this review, you need to give this song a listening hear and comprehend the lyrics perfectly.

Olamide is good and he’s obviously right about calling himself “god” in the music industry. Only a “god” can stay relevant consistently every year, for the past 8 years.

This year so far, Olamide hasn’t really delivered any major hit song, which is very unusual of the YBNL honcho. On “Woske” Olamide delivered a jam, even though there was no particular meaning but the song is definitely a dope street jam.

That pattern continues on “Spirit“, he keeps chanting “My purpose for this life, you no fit understand“, whack lyrics with no clear meaning.

The beat is low tempo, a masterclass from Pheelz but as usual, Olamide ruins it with “his non understandable lyrics”.

Since we can’t understand Olamide’s purpose in life, surely, we couldn’t find it easy understanding this song “Spirit” also.

Truth to be told, Spirit sounds just like the normal highness inspired freestyle of Olamide, cause on the track it’s obvious Olamide was laboring to drop a quality verse and Baddo had to resort to hullabalooing “La La La La” to save himself from his perceived “fvck up”.

Olamide trying to show his music versatility of switching from the normal street gbedu like “Wo!“, “Science Student” on this song is just unnecessary.

However he successfully did that on “Melo Melo” back then and we all vibed to it, but trying it on this new one is not just it. Surely, “Spirit” won’t stand the test of time before it fades off. It’s just a waste of “Pheelz“.

Olamide should leave these kinds of songs for Lyta and Fireboy jare!
