The transfer window is hotting up with the Premier League's elite working to get deals over the line.


Arsenal are wrapping up a £72million deal for Nicolas Pepe, with confirmation expected as early as Wednesday after he was pictured in an Arsenal shirt.


The Gunners are still in the hunt for Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, although the two clubs have yet to agree a fee for the the full-back.


They also continue to be linked with Sami Khedira after the Juventus midfielder was spotted at the Emirates on Sunday.


Elsewhere, Manchester United are in talks with Juve over a stunning swap deal.


United want to bring Paulo Dybala to Old Trafford, with Romelu Lukaku heading in the opposite direction after Inter failed to cough up the cash for the big Belgian forward.


Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham could still make late moves in the transfer market as we approach the final week.

United revive Umtiti interest



Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti as an alternative to Harry Maguire.


The Frenchman has returned to action following a knee injury which hindered his participation towards the back end of last season, sparking interest from clubs who are keen to secure his services.


United stepped up their pursuit of Maguire and launched a £70million bid for the 26-year-old which Leicester swiftly rejected, demanding £90million which the Red Devils have bolted at.

Arsenal make Tierney breakthrough



Kieran Tierney is reportedly edging closer to sealing a move to Arsenal after they restructured their offer for the Celtic full-back.


The Gunners back line has been in desperate need of reinforcements and boss Unai Emery identified Tierney as the solution to their defensive frailties.


Earlier reports suggested that Arsenal have seen two bids for the left-back rejected, and were locked in negotiations with the Scottish champions.


It is rumoured that Celtic were not happy with the package Arsenal were offering, which proposed paying the transfer fee in installments and add-ons to satisfy their restricted transfer budget.

Khedira 'must take pay-cut' to join Gunners'



Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira will be required to take a pay-cut in order to seal a move to Arsenal , according to reports in Italy.


According to La Gazetta dello Sport (via Sportsmole), the Premier League club have offered Khedira a two-year contract to make the switch to north London.


However, the Italian publication reports that the midfielder would be forced to reduce his current wages to complete the move, with Arsenal only prepared to offer a contract worth £70,000-a-week.


It is claimed that would see Khedira earn around £30,000-a-week short of his existing salary at Juventus .


The German midfielder intensified suggestions he could join Arsenal after he was spotted at the Emirates Stadium during Sunday’s pre-season friendly against Lyon.

Lovren's agent 'holds meeting with AC Milan'



AC Milan could revive their interest in Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren after holding a meeting with the player’s agent, according to reports in Italy.


Talks of a potential transfer have quietened down in recent weeks but Tutto Mercato (via insidefutbol.com ) claim that attempts are being made to rekindle Milan’s interest in the defender.


According to the publication, Bjorn Bezemer, a member of the agency that represents Lovren, held a meeting with the Italian club’s officials on Tuesday.

Man Utd 'agree swap deal in principle for Dybala'



Manchester United are close to completing a swap deal with Juventus involving Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku, according to reports in Italy.


Tottenham were also believed to be interested in the Argentine, but Sky in Italy now report that United have agreed a deal in principle with the Italian champions that will see striker Lukaku head to the Allianz Stadium in exchange.


However, it is claimed that the swap will be dependent on Dybala accepting a move to Old Trafford.

Zidane explains Bale absence



Zinedine Zidane has claimed that Gareth Bale missed Real Madrid’s pre-season game against Spurs because he wasn’t feeling well.


Some reports had suggested that Bale chose not to travel to the Audi Cup because he was upset that his £1million-a-week to China had collapsed.


“Bale didn’t travel with us because he didn’t feel that well,” said the Real boss after the match.


“The doctors said he was unwell and the best thing for him was to stay in Madrid. He’s training individually in Madrid


“That was a decision that we made — the club, the doctors, myself and Bale, too.”

Mustafi 'wants Arsenal stay'



Shkodran Mustafi reportedly wants to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal , despite the club’s attempts to sell the defender.




According to Ornstein, the former Valencia man, who is under contract with the club until 2021, wants to remain at the Emirates and prove himself.


Despite the player’s wishes, it is claimed that the Gunners want Mustafi off their books and are open to either a permanent or loan move.

Wolves eyeing two new signings



Wolves boss Nuno Santo has revealed he is hoping to add a further two players to his squad before the window closes.


He told Sky Sports: “We feel that we still need two players. We’re going to bring in two players (to get to) 18 players that we want to work with every day, plus the back-up of the under-23s and the young players that we want to develop.”


The Molyenux club are expected to announce the signing of AC Milan star Patrick Cutrone, after the 21-year-old underwent a medical on Monday.


Cutrone will join the midlands club in a £20 million switch, with an initial £16 million to be paid up front, and a potential further £4 million in add-ons.

Brighton 'make £20m bid for defender'



Brighton have reportedly made an offer of £20m plus add-ons to sign Adam Webster from Bristol City, according to Sky Sports.


The Seagulls have had a number of bigs knocked back for the 24-year-old defender, but look set to test City’s resolve with their latest attempt.


Webster was ever-present for the Robins last season as they narrowly missed out on a play-off spot.

Palace 'make approach for Chalov'



Crystal Palace have made a £14m offer for CSKA Moscow forward Fedor Chalov, according to Sky Sports.


The 21-year-old scored 17 goals in 37 appearances last season, and Roy Hodgson is thought to see him as a viable option to improve his side’s firepower next season.


They may face competition for the player, however, with the likes of Valencia, Monaco and Lazio also said to be interested.

Solskjaer coy on Dybala rumours



Ole Gunnar Solskjaer refused to give anything away about Paulo Dybala’s potential move to Manchester United following his side’s 1-0 pre-season win over Kristiansund.


Reports have suggested Dybala could be on his way to Old Trafford in a deal which will see Romelu Lukaku head in the other direction.


Solskjaer didn’t provide any clues when asked about the Argentinean midfielder after the match, but did confirm the club are still working on new signings.


“I’m not here to talk about any rumours or speculation about other team’s players,” said Solskjaer.


“But of course we’re working on one or two cases, as I’ve said before.”

Pepe poses with shirt as move confirmation draws closer



Nicolas Pepe appears to be posing in an Arsenal shirt on photos shared on Twitter as his £72m move from Lille nears completion.


Reports suggested the 24-year-old winger had been undergoing a medical in London on Tuesday.


And after the photos were shared on social media it appears only a matter of hours until there is an official announcement of the transfer from the club.

What Pepe deal means for Tierney



Arsenal are set to smash their transfer record in the next few days by announcing the signing of Ivory Coast winger Nicolas Pepe from Lille.


It is thought the 24-year-old will cost up to an eye-watering £80m, although the fee will be paid in instalments by the Gunners.


Another player linked with a move to the Emirates this summer is Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney, but according to Ian McGarry on ‘The Transfer Window’ podcast, the Pepe deal could scupper all chances of a move for Tierney.


“I suspect it’ll have the negative effect,” McGarry said.


“The way that Celtic will be looking at it - Arsenal are already trying to get him on the cheap as far as they’re concerned and by paying in instalments.


“They’ll look at the Pepe deal and be like ‘well were you just playing us all along?’

Everton to make late bid for Malcom?



It has been a busy day at Goodison Park.


With Juventus forward Moise Kean set to sign for £29m, he could also soon be joined by Barcelona winger Malcom.


According to the Daily Mail the Blues are set to bid £40m for the player in a bid to scupper a move to Zenit St Petersburg at the last minute.


It is thought Malcom was close to signing a six year deal with Zenit, but may re-consider if the Toffee’s bid is accepted.

Sturridge close to signing for new club



Ex-Liverpool and Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge is reportedly on the verge of a move to Turkey, with Trabzonspor looking like his next destination.


According to Goal Italia an agreement has been reached between him and the club despite late interest from Italian side Bologna.


The signing could be announced within the next few days, with Trabzonspor set to be the sixth side of Sturridge’s career.

Pochettino loses cool over transfers



Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino appeared to aim a sly dig at chairman Daniel Levy following his side’s 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Audi Cup.


Spurs broke their transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombele for £55m last month and also completed a deal for Leeds’ Jack Clarke, although Clarke will return to Elland Road on loan next season.


There is concern amongst supporters, however, that there will be no further signings before the close of the transfer window next week.


And Pochettino seemed to be unhappy with the way the club were dealing with transfers when he spoke to reporters after the Madrid match.


“Maybe the club need to change my title description now, because my job now is to coach the team,” he said.


“[Transfers are] not a question for me, they are a question for the club, and maybe they are going to change my title description.”

Sporting reject Fernandes bid rumours



Sporting Lisbon have denied speculation claiming Manchester United had made an opening bid for midfielder Bruno Fernandes.


Earlier today Portuguese publication A Bola reported that United had finally made an offer for the player following months of rumours linking him to Old Trafford.


However, a statement by a spokesman for Sporting to RTP said: “The rumours are completely false.”


Sporting hope to hang on to Fernandes until at least after their Portuguese Super Cup game with Benfica on Sunday.

Everton agree Renier deal



Everton have reportedly agreed a deal for Brazilian wonderkid Renier Jesus.


Reports in Brazil claim the move will be finalised in January when Renier turns 18.


A host of clubs across the world were reportedly keen on the teenager.







Roma still pursuing Alderweireld



Roma still want to sign Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld.


The Italian giants are understood to be ready to offer the central defender a contract worth £3.2 million a year.


Alderweireld, 30, has just a year left on his current contract and has so far rejected Tottenham’s attempts to get him to sign a new deal. The north Londoners are set to try again but Roma are also keen land him.


Their task is complicated by the fact that Alderweireld’s £25 million release clause expired last week. It means Tottenham can charge interested clubs whatever they want for him.


Although Spurs boss has Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez in his ranks the departure of Alderweireld would still be a significant one.


The Belgian has has captained Tottenham in pre-season and has been an important figure since his arrival in 2015.

Everton in Gbamin talks



It has been a busy day at Everton.


Idrissa Gueye has gone to PSG while the Toffees are closing in on a deal for Moise Kean.


They are now in talks with Mainz over midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin.

Man Utd in Dybala talks



Manchester United have opened discussions with Juventus over a move for their forward Paulo Dybala.


Dybala’s agent is understood to have flown to the UK for talks with United aimed at securing a transfer for his client before the August 8 deadline.


The Argentina forward could be used as part of a swap deal involving United forward Romelu Lukaku going the other way.


United have grown frustrated with Inter Milan’s failure to meet their £75million valuation of Lukaku, with the Serie A side having made an opening offer of £54m for the Belgian.

Wolves sign Cutrone



Wolves have confirmed the signing of Patrick Cutrone.


The striker arrives at Molineux from Milan in a £16m deal.


He has penned a four-year deal with the Midlands side.









Dybala agent 'in London'



Paulo Dybala’s agent is reportedly in London to discuss a move to Manchester United .


Dybala is considering his future at Juventus after losing his place to Cristiano Ronaldo last season.


Tottenham and Manchester United are both interested in Dybala, who is believed to be open to moving to the Premier League.


And now Sky Sports report Dybala’s agent has travelled to London for talks with United over a potential swap deal for Romelu Lukaku.


Inter Milan hit out at United for pricing Lukaku out of a move to them on Monday but Juve could now pounce.

Palace make Chalov bid



Crystal Palace have made a £14m move for CSKA Moscow striker Fedor Chalov.


The Eagles are determined to boost their striking options ahead of the new campaign after struggling last season.


Boss Roy Hodgson wants two new forwards and has made 21-year-old Russia international Chalov one of his top targets.


Brentford’s Ollie Watkins is also on Palace’s radar but the club are most keen on a deal for Chalov who scored 17 goals and registered seven assists in 37 appearances for CSKA last season. He also picked up his first two Russia caps earlier this year.


The interest comes with Turkish club Fenerbahce keen on Belgian striker Christian Benteke, for whom the clubs are listening to offers despite a positive pre-season.

Liverpool's Woodburn joins Oxford on loan



Liverpool have announced their young forward Ben Woodburn will join Oxford United on a season-long loan.


The 19-year-old was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday last year, making seven appearances for the Championship club.


He has been a part of the Reds’ pre-season tour, but manager Jurgen Klopp clearly feels regular first-team football for League Two Oldham is the best thing for Woodburn’s progression.

Man Utd to make opening Bruno Fernandes bid



Manchester United look set to finally make their move for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes, having been linked with the central midfielder all summer.


The 24-year-old was one of the best players in the Primeira Liga last season, scoring 19 times in 31 appearances.


According to Portuguese publication A Bola, United will present their first bid today through the player’s agent Miguel Pinho.


Sporting are expected to hold out for a fee of around £70m for the player.

Arsenal pencil in Pepe debut



Arsenal fans may have to wait until the opening game of the Gunners’ Premier League season to see incoming new boy Nicolas Pepe in action.


The Lille forward is on the verge of completing a £72 million move to the North London club, after flying to London to undergo a medical on Tuesday.


Pepe’s signing will shatter the club’s transfer record, currently held by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and is reportedly set to earn a bumper £150k per week deal at the Emirates.


Arsenal boss Unai Emery previously praised Pepe’s ability, but the Spaniard is not likely to rush the 24-year-old into first-team duties.


The Metro report that Pepe will not feature in Wednesday’s friendly with Angers, or Sunday’s Joan Gamper Trophy clash with Barcelona .

Celtic target opens up on speculation



Celtic target Strahinja Pavlovic has admitted he is “flattered” by interest in him from the Scottish side, report Football Scotland.


The Hoops are keeping a tabs on the Partizan Belgrade defender, with a view to making a move, and watched him in a recent Europa League qualifier.


The 18-year-old has also attracted interest from Juventus, who were said to be considering a £4.5m move.


Pavlovic said: “I was flattered when I heard about Celtic watching me in Wales. But for me I have to only concentrate on my immediate future and that’s at Partizan.”

United legend urges club to sell Pogba



Teddy Sheringham has urged Man Utd to sell Paul Pogba for ‘whatever Real Madrid offer’.


The United legend told talkSPORT: “I just don’t think it’s the right fit. I think he’s upset a lot of people with his demeanour and his attitude at Old Trafford.


“It would be best for everyone involved if he left. If Real Madrid want him, whatever they’re paying, let him go.


“Use the money to go and buy someone who really wants to be playing for Man United, showing how good he is and what their worth is.”
